Alyssa Finlay, graphic designer
I’m an unusual combination of both left and right brain; I’m creative yet logical and process oriented. This combination means I’m great at creative solutions and also at realising that solution on budget and on time.
Artifact Design Group is my own business, I take care of all concept/design work as well as the day to day management of clients and suppliers. This means that I am solely responsible for my client’s needs leaving little room for communication errors.
I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Commerce (part-time) majoring in marketing to broaden the range of skills I can offer my clients.
In my downtime I enjoy life drawing and yoga. I’m also passionate about new music and love seeing live bands in small venues.
Education and experience:
I graduated with a Diploma of Finished Art from the Preston College of TAFE (now Northern Metropolitan) in Melbourne in 1989. My final folio won the prestigious “Gold Folio” award for the top student in the State.
My career began with noted design studios Malpass & Burrows and Flett, Henderson & Arnold in Melbourne, before moving into advertising with agencies including Ogilivy & Mather and Clifton, Court, Smith, Ogilvy & Mather, where I was studio manager responsible for the timely production of all artwork and the supervision of all pre-press and printing for clients in the rural, retail and service sectors.
After a break to start a family, I joined Artifact Pty Ltd as a designer and production manager, providing design, traffic and production management services. Since inception this business has gone through many transitions and is now run solely by me. I use a range of third party suppliers to provide my clients with print, web development and video where required.
I am a professional member of the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA).
